Slush Pile Reader
Nov 5th, 2007 by Nut
I heard about this website/project after reading about it in the latest issue of Poets & Writers.
Here’s the gist: writers submit their book-length manuscripts to the website and the first 50 pages are “shown” for readers to check out. The book (or books, I’m not sure) that get the most amount of votes to be published, get published. The idea is to make the whole selection process crystal clear and to make it an American Idol-style popularity contest.
As we saw earlier this week, sometimes the best doesn’t win or even make it to the finals. Not that I watch that show or anything.
I don’t have a book to submit so it’s not something I’m going to be into, but I’ll still keep an eye on it and see how it progresses and what book(s) gets published.
