I got a Wii . . . sort of
Dec 26th, 2007 by Nut
I’m kind of embarrassed to admit it, but I finally got one.
I had debated the impulse to follow through and try to get one, since they are impossible to find, but last Saturday M and I went to see a movie. Afterwards, I casually mentioned that I’d like to go to Gamestop and just ask to see if they were going to get any the next day.
I had heard about the rain check system but I knew they would be out, people were lining up for that early Friday morning.
So we went, she humored me, and sure enough—they didn’t have any.
“But we do have two rain checks left.”
Really? I was surprised. So after a quick check with M I bought one. Guaranteed to have it by the end of January. After years of not being a video game person (way back in the day I was a big time video-game nerd) I’m back in. After all this time of being frugal and not spending money on unnecessary things (and being too proud of it), I’ve spend $249 on a video game system. Games cost around $50. The thing will consume a lot of my time.
I’m sure I’ll have fun with it, but I’m starting to question my frugality.
