31 Days to Building a Better Blog—Day 3
May 14th, 2008 by Nut

Welcome to Day 3 of my quest to build a better blog by following ProBlogger’s Guide. Yesterday was Day 2 and I did a First Time Reader audit. It was incredibly helpful and I’ve already started making changes based on that experience.
Today’s tip is to Search For and Join a forum on my blog’s topic. This means I could either go the personal-finance route of the writing route. I found a pretty cool writing forum and decided to join there since I feel like I already read and comment so much on other finance sites, so it’s good to get into the writing thing a little more.
I remember back in the day when I was really into playing this baseball game called High Heat Baseball. There was a forum of rabid fans that talked about every facet of the game and how to make it better. I mostly listened and didn’t chime in with anything, but it was incredible seeing how passionate everyone was about the game and the work they put into making it better. They created all kinds of files and overlays to personalize it and make it a more entertaining experience. I followed it every for years and it really left an impression on me that forums can be much more than just a place to gab away. You can actually meet and get to know people in that space. So I know how powerful forums can be.
I think for the purposes of this exercise, it’s going to be about participating in a discussion about writing that will help me (and my unconscious) stay on point when it comes to writing and maybe get a new reader or two interested in the blog. Who knows? But like I said before, I’m just going to go with the flow and worry about the results later.
Go back to Day 2’s tip, Run a First Time Reader audit.

I’m enjoying this series! I might even join you over at the writing forums you mentioned. I’d like to improve my writing a bit, and like you have become saturated with the PF forums.
I’ll second Frugal Dad in saying I’m enjoying this series! I’m not sure what a writing forum is or does, but I will check it out, too.
