31 Days to a Better Blog—Introduce Yourself to Another Blogger
Jun 18th, 2008 by Nut
Time to get back on track with my 31 Days to a Better Blog series. It’s taking me longer than 31 days, but that’s not a bad thing. It means I’m writing about other things and doing these tasks as well as I can.
Anyway, today’s homework is to introduce myself to another blogger. Not because I want something or am trying to generate traffic/blogroll exchange, etc. Instead, see what you might be able to offer this person. Maybe a guest post or a tip on something he/she has written. This is actually how I got in touch with a few of the blogs that I read every day and constantly chat/email with when things come up that I’m not too familiar with.
My favorite way of doing this? Going to a site whose blogroll you are already on and seeing what other sites are out there. Scan for an interesting/related name and open a few of them up. These are brand new blogs that you’ve never seen and so they are possible gold mines. Take some time to read a few articles, the about page and see how much you like it. Then go back and try the whole thing over again. Pick the site you liked the most and send that person an email.
Then sit back and be done — that’s it. No further action required. Remember, this isn’t about getting something out of it, it’s simply about knocking on some doors and saying “Hi, I like your blog.”
