The Writer’s Coin and Social Networking
Oct 15th, 2008 by Nut
There are lots of ways you can get the word out about your site and the things you write, and one of them is via social networks. So far, I’ve neglected to do any of that because I didn’t see the use for them in my personal life. But this is different: I’m open to meeting new people, seeing what they think/have to say, and sharing links. In my personal account, I want none of that. All I want there is to occasionally keep in touch with my friends.
So I’ve started to use Facebook differently now that I have a profile set up for the blog: I’m interacting more and trying to expand my circle of “friends” to make this site better. Check me out here and the blog’s own page is over here. If you have any tips feel free to pass them along, it’s almost like learning to use it all over again since I never went too deep into Facebook stuff.
But Facebook isn’t all the rage it once was: now it’s Twitter. I’ve had arguments about how useful Twitter is and how they will (eventually) make money, but right now I’m liking it. In case you haven’t heard about it, Twitter is a microblogging site, basically. You can only write messages or comments that are 140 characters or less, which is a fantastic idea. Then you can “follow” other people you find interesting, pass along, interesting links, etc. You can also do this from your phone, which is pretty cool. Sending a text to Twitter’s number after setting up your phone will have the message you send post straight to your profile.
Anyway, if you’re into Twitter check out my page here. And I’ve also added a widget on the right-hand side of the page with the three latest “tweets.”
