		<description>I&#039;m glad this post turned out the way it did -- I was getting ready to jump all over you about how FDIC insurance really does work, but it sounds like you got there yourself.  :D

I had a CD with a bank that failed a year or two ago, and the transition from them to a new bank (ING Direct, as it happens) went very smoothly and I was quite pleased with the process.  Not as pleased as I would have been if it hadn&#039;t been necessary in the first place, of course, but it turns out that being bailed out by the FDIC is a quick and painless experience.  :)</description>
