Artemis Fowl

Has anyone read any of these books?
They are for aimed at young adults but it appears they have the same crossover potential that Harry Potter has.
I ask because I tried reading Harry Potter but I was bored. I heard an interview with Eoin Colfer, the author, and he sounded very interesting. He also read a bit of it and it sounded way more intriguing than Potter.
The long and short of it is that Artemis Fowl is the “evil Harry Potter.”
So, anyone out there have anything to say about this book?

The Artemis Fowl books are excellent. There was talk about making the first two into a movie but I don’t think it ever really got going.
Butler is the best!
