The Shakespeare Bookstore in Paris

I like telling people what I’m reading, and that’s why I feature the current book I’m on in the sidebar of the site. But once I finish it and move on to the next one, it’s lost forever! So here is where I’ll put those books I’ve finished, along with a short, Twitter-esque review for all to see.

Enjoy!

  • Let the Great World Spin (6/10): Has some moments of great writing, but the story is disjointed and not very interesting. This got tons of dazzling reviews, and I just don’t see what the big deal is.
  • SuperFreakonomics (7/10): Not as interesting and intriguing as the first one, and this one now carries all the weight of its critics. Nothing really strings the interesting stories inside into a cohesive package. Still interesting, but not as much as the first one.
  • The Unnamed (9/10): Stunning. Ferris has a way of combining humor and sorrow and wrapping it in a package of beautiful writing that manages to somehow entertain.
  • From Worst to First (7/10): Great story of how Gordon Bethune turned Continental Airlines from a terrible airline to a respected one. A little repetitive towards the end but a great read filled with great case studies.
  • The Thanatos Syndrome (7/10): Action thriller type book from a superb writer. The ending kind of falls apart though.
  • Born That Way (8/10): Book about genetics and how a Minnesota twin study turned the tide in the nature vs. nurture debate.
  • Artemis Fowl (6/10): Artemis is an evil Harry Potter. And he’s a genius. And he’s rich. Very cliched but entertaining for a younger crowd.
  • The Plot Against America (7/10): Cool “what if” premise, but didn’t get exciting until the last 40 pages or so. Pretty good.

Check out my favorite books of all time to see if we have similar tastes.
